Years ago, Silk set out to help make the world a healthy place, not just for the people who drink our soymilk, but for everyone. Today that commitment is going strong, and it's one of the reasons we've partnered with Conservation International, a leader in championing and preserving our planet's natural resources.

As a team, Silk and Conservation International are developing a Responsible Soybean Sourcing Program to help guarantee the quality Silk consumers demand while benefiting soy-growing communities and protecting the environment we all depend on. The program supports our goal of using only soybeans produced in a sustainable, socially responsible and ethical manner.

Throughout 2009, Silk is conducting a Responsible Purchasing Survey among our soybean farmers and suppliers. The survey will help us better understand how our sourcing choices impact the environment and communities where soy is grown. We'll use the results to create a baseline snapshot of our current practices and identify areas where we can do even better.

Like every aspect of our business, responsible sourcing is about paying close attention to the things that matter most: our environment, our communities and—above all—the health and well-being of our consumers.
